FAQ

  1. Does Diane remember my details?

No. Diane works within a single session. Nothing is saved or carried forward unless you explicitly ask for it. To keep sessions clean, avoid phrases like “remember this” or “store this.” If you use one by accident, simply say: “Please forget anything I asked you to remember.”

  1. Should The Diane Method be used in place of professional therapy?

No. The Diane Method is not a substitute for professional therapy or medication.

  1. Can I type my story rather than use audio transcription?

No. Typing encourages structure, grammar, and self-editing. The method works best when you speak freely out loud, without filtering or shaping the story as you go.

  2. Should I use voice synthesis or text to speech to read my story?

No. The Diane Method depends on you speaking out loud in your own voice. Hearing your words spoken by a synthetic voice changes the experience and reduces the effect of the method.

  3. What if I want to come back to a story later?

Diane does not retain details from past sessions. If you want to return to a story later, copy and save it (for example, in a Word document), then paste it back into a new session when you’re ready to continue.

  4. Can Diane compile my stories?

Yes. Paste each entry into the same conversation and tell Diane how many entries you’ll be posting, then ask her to combine them into one.

  5. Can I ask Diane to make my stories more or less “literary”?

Yes. You can say something like “make this slightly more literary” or “keep it very plain.” These adjustments stay within Diane’s restrained style. If you’re continuing in the same conversation, you can ask her to keep that level going forward.

  6. What happens if Diane responds before I’ve finished the story?

Just say: “You responded too soon. Please hold while I continue, then blend what I say next with what you just wrote.”

  7. Are there any limits on what I can describe in my story?

Yes. Diane operates within ChatGPT’s content guidelines. Explicit sexual descriptions or graphic sexual acts may be blocked or interrupted. You do not need explicit detail for the method to work—implied, emotionally accurate descriptions are enough. If a response is stopped or redirected, simply restate the moment more generally and continue.
